In July of 2025, Congress passed new important legislation that expands and extends the Radiation Exposure and Compensation Act (RECA) to provide cash compensation and healthcare benefits to even more uranium miners, millers, haulers, core drillers, and remediation workers.

Were you employed as a Uranium worker between 1942 and 1990?

If you were a uranium miner, miller, hauler, core driller, or remediation worker who was employed for at least one year from January 1, 1942, through December 31, 1990, you may qualify for up to $400,000 in cash compensation and free medical benefits including:

Physician office visits and medical treatment

Prescription medications

 Medical equipment (e.g. wheelchair, oxygen tank)

Hospitalization

 Expenses reimbursement (e.g. travel expenses)

In-home healthcare

Please note: Before the new law was passed, uranium workers employed after 1971 did not qualify for RECA benefits. But the new bill now covers “post-71” uranium workers who have previously been denied benefits.
